1 Κορινθίους 14:22 — 14:40

22  Συνεπώς, οι γλώσσες είναι προς σημείο,  όχι για τους πιστούς, αλλά για τους απίστους,  ενώ η προφητεία είναι, όχι για τους απίστους, αλλά για τους πιστούς.  23  Αν, λοιπόν, συγκεντρωθεί ολόκληρη η εκκλησία σε ένα μέρος και όλοι μιλούν σε γλώσσες,  αλλά μπουν μέσα συνηθισμένοι άνθρωποι ή άπιστοι, δεν θα πουν αυτοί ότι είστε τρελοί; 24  Αν όμως προφητεύετε όλοι και μπει μέσα οποιοδήποτε άπιστο ή συνηθισμένο άτομο, ελέγχεται από όλους,  εξετάζεται προσεκτικά από όλους· 25  τα μυστικά της καρδιάς του γίνονται φανερά,  και έτσι θα πέσει με το πρόσωπο κάτω και θα λατρέψει τον Θεό, διακηρύττοντας: «Ο Θεός είναι όντως ανάμεσά σας». 

   26  Τι πρέπει να γίνει, λοιπόν, αδελφοί; Όταν συγκεντρώνεστε, ένας έχει ψαλμό, άλλος έχει διδασκαλία, άλλος έχει αποκάλυψη, άλλος έχει γλώσσα, άλλος έχει ερμηνεία.  Όλα ας γίνονται για εποικοδόμηση.  27  Και αν κανείς μιλάει σε κάποια γλώσσα, αυτό ας περιορίζεται σε δύο ή τρεις το πολύ, και ένας ένας· και ας μεταφράζει κάποιος.  28  Αλλά αν δεν υπάρχει μεταφραστής, ας μένει σιωπηλός μέσα στην εκκλησία και ας μιλάει στον εαυτό  του και στον Θεό. 29  Ακόμη, ας μιλούν δύο ή τρεις προφήτες,  και οι άλλοι ας διακρίνουν τη σημασία.  30  Αλλά αν υπάρξει αποκάλυψη σε κάποιον άλλον  ενώ κάθεται εκεί, ο πρώτος ας μένει σιωπηλός. 31  Διότι όλοι μπορείτε να προφητεύετε  ένας ένας, για να μαθαίνουν όλοι και να ενθαρρύνονται  όλοι. 32  Και τα χαρίσματα του πνεύματος των προφητών πρέπει να βρίσκονται κάτω από τον έλεγχο των προφητών. 33  Διότι ο Θεός είναι Θεός, όχι ακαταστασίας,  αλλά ειρήνης. 

   Όπως σε όλες τις εκκλησίες των αγίων, 34  οι γυναίκες ας μένουν σιωπηλές  μέσα στις εκκλησίες, γιατί δεν τους επιτρέπεται να μιλούν, αλλά ας υποτάσσονται,  όπως μάλιστα λέει ο Νόμος.  35  Αν, λοιπόν, θέλουν να μαθαίνουν κάτι, ας ρωτούν το σύζυγό τους στο σπίτι, γιατί είναι επαίσχυντο  να μιλάει γυναίκα μέσα στην εκκλησία.

   36  Τι; Από εσάς ήρθε ο λόγος του Θεού,  ή μήπως μόνο μέχρι εσάς έφτασε;

   37  Αν κανείς νομίζει ότι είναι προφήτης ή έχει χάρισμα του πνεύματος, ας παραδέχεται αυτά που σας γράφω, επειδή αυτά είναι εντολή του Κυρίου.  38  Αλλά αν κανείς έχει άγνοια, παραμένει σε άγνοια. 39  Επομένως, αδελφοί μου, να ζητάτε με ζήλο την προφητεία,  και εντούτοις να μην απαγορεύετε την ομιλία σε γλώσσες.  40  Αλλά τα πάντα ας γίνονται με ευπρέπεια και με διευθέτηση.

22 Consequently tongues are for a sign, not to the believers, but to the unbelievers, whereas prophesying is, not for the unbelievers, but for the believers. 23 Therefore, if the whole congregation comes together to one place and they all speak in tongues, but ordinary people or unbelievers come in, will they not say that YOU are mad? 24 But if YOU are all prophesying and any unbeliever or ordinary person comes in, he is reproved by them all, he is closely examined by all; 25 the secrets of his heart become manifest, so that he will fall upon [his] face and worship God, declaring: “God is really among YOU.”

26 What is to be done, then, brothers? When YOU come together, one has a psalm, another has a teaching, another has a revelation, another has a tongue, another has an interpretation. Let all things take place for upbuilding. 27 And if someone speaks in a tongue, let it be limited to two or three at the most, and in turns; and let someone translate. 28 But if there be no translator, let him keep silent in the congregation and speak to himself and to God. 29 Further, let two or three prophets speak, and let the others discern the meaning. 30 But if there is a revelation to another one while sitting there, let the first one keep silent. 31 For YOU can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all be encouraged. 32 And [gifts of] the spirit of the prophets are to be controlled by the prophets. 33 For God is [a God], not of disorder, but of peace.

As in all the congregations of the holy ones, 34 let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. 35 If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation.

36 What? Was it from YOU that the word of God came forth, or was it only as far as YOU that it reached?

37 If anyone thinks he is a prophet or gifted with the spirit, let him acknowledge the things I am writing to YOU, because they are the Lord’s commandment. 38 But if anyone is ignorant, he continues ignorant. 39 Consequently, my brothers, keep zealously seeking the prophesying, and yet do not forbid the speaking in tongues. 40 But let all things take place decently and by arrangement.
